2012 Net Impact Conference Invites Participants to "Accelerate Their Impact" in Celebration of 20th Anniversary

Net Impact, the leading global nonprofit that inspires a new generation to work within and beyond business for a more sustainable future, invites participants to accelerate their impact at the 2012 Net Impact Conference in Baltimore, MD this October 25-27, in celebration of the organization’s 20th anniversary. Attendees can register online at www.netimpact.org/conference.

”We’ve come so far since our first conference in the early ‘90s, organized by a handful of MBA students who believed business could be a force for good,” says Net Impact CEO Liz Maw. “We've helped move sustainability in business from the fringe to the mainstream, and are thrilled that our 20th annual conference will convene thousands of dedicated leaders who will find the ideas, inspiration, and tools to help them accelerate their impact over the weeks, months, and years to come.”

Expected to draw nearly 2,800 students and professionals from every sector, the 2012 Net Impact Conference features more than 100 breakout sessions spanning eight tracks designed to address the world’s toughest challenges while exploring new solutions: corporate impact, energy and clean tech, international development, finance and investing, environment and natural resources, social innovation and entrepreneurship, career and professional development, and community development. More than 350 corporate responsibility, nonprofit, and sustainability leaders will share their experiences and insights as speakers and panelists.

Among the eight notable keynote speakers are Wendy Kopp, CEO and Founder of Teach for America, discussing how she’s changing the face of public education by testing the status quo, and Honest Tea President and CEO Seth Goldman in conversation with Beatriz Perez, Chief Sustainability Officer of Coca-Cola, discussing the challenges and opportunities of partnering for impact.

Diverse session formats ensure attendees are able to learn and participate in a variety of ways. Formats include debates (“The New Frontiers of Philanthropy: Who Wins, Who Loses?”), workshops (“The Re-design: How Human-Centered Design Can Improve Your Social Business”), interactive panels (“Mobile Technologies in Development: Opportunities to Engage the Private Sector”), competitions (“Walmart Quickpitch Challenge”), and more.

Breaking out of the traditional conference environment, the 2012 Net Impact Conference will offer networking salons, local impact tours, no-host dinners, and additional opportunities for participants to connect with one another.

“We're so proud of the remarkable impacts our members have made over the years in their jobs, on their campuses, and in communities,” says Maw. “Our 20th annual conference is the perfect opportunity to celebrate our successes, while ramping up our impact going forward.”
