About Us: The Purpose Trust Ownership Network (PTON) is a newly formed nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the growth of purpose trust ownership in the United States, including those focused on employee ownership, affordable housing, local economic sustainability, environmental preservation, and responsible technology. PTON is a collaborative effort to help create the infrastructure needed to support the growth of this new ownership alternative, and sustain a network that will build the capacity of organizations supporting business owners in their conversions. 

PTON activities include developing public-facing educational resources, organizing academic research, developing best practices in the creation and use of purpose trusts, informing policy makers about supportive state and national policies, supporting development of new financing mechanisms for purpose trust ownership, coordinating with other nonprofits that support other forms of alternative ownership, and materials showing how how purpose trust ownership can be a lever for addressing societal challenges including wealth inequality, affordable housing, local economic sustainability, environmental degradation, and responsible technology.

 

About This Role: The Program Manager will be responsible for the delivery of PTON’s core non-profit activities. They will lead the development of a program strategy and coordinate resources across the network to accomplish our goals. A successful candidate will bring expertise in establishing new programs, building and leveraging collaborative relationships, facilitating work groups, and turning PTON’s strategic objectives into clear, executable deliverables. 

Duties: 

  • Develop programming and initiatives that will deliver on PTON’s mission 
  • Coordinate the development of a resource hub, case studies, templates, guidance documents and related materials 
  • Build public awareness of PTON, including developing and executing a strategy for PTON web presence; identifying media and partners to push out content; and organizing purpose trust ownership experts and owners to present at professional conferences 
  • Support PTON event planning and execution. 
  • Support the Board in defining membership offerings and recruiting new members 
  • Create processes for managing membership and ongoing engagement 
  • Develop and organize collaborative workgroups to develop content and make progress on deliverables 
  • Support the formation of an academic network, a business owners’ network, and a lawyers’ network 
  • Engage with the academic community to measure results and impact 
  • Support efforts to educate policy makers on state and federal policy opportunities to enable the use of purpose trust ownership 

 

 

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in and passion for alternative ownership structures that build community wealth and benefit stakeholders 
  • Experience with nonprofits and/or academia, either as an employee or volunteer 
  • Experience supporting with nonprofit grants and fundraising
  • Experience working in start-up organizations 
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in program and project management 
  • Experience developing a knowledge management system 
  • Ability to create plans, organize resources, manage multiple tasks and workstreams, set priorities and drive for result 
  • Ability to build effective and diverse teams, organize and motivate others, solid interpersonal skills 
  • A desire to learn, flexibility, and resourcefulness 
  • Strong, demonstrable writing and communication skills 
  • Excellent computer skills required, specifically, expertise with: Microsoft Office products, web based communication platforms, contact databases, Canva/graphic design software, and/or website maintenance experience 

Salary Range: This is a remote position, but candidates must be US-based. Compensation range of $75,000-85,000 based on 1 FTE, subject to experience.
