The Associate, Data Collection and Analysis is responsible for contributing to data collection projects; helping to access and compile data from third-party data sources; conducting quantitative data analyses; assisting with qualitative data collection and analysis; adhering to data review and quality assurance processes; producing data visualizations; providing administrative support to help manage data collection and analysis projects; and assisting with OFN’s research agenda and projects. This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist with the collection of original CDFI data via surveys, interviews, and other collection methods by, for example, drafting sections of survey instruments and interview questionnaires, programming portions of surveys into online survey platforms, tracking progress of survey responses, scheduling and taking notes on semi-structured interviews, among other data collection tasks.
- Contribute to the Annual Member Survey project, which is OFN’s annual collection of financial, lending activity, staffing, outcomes, and other data elements from members. Contributions include helping to track survey competition progress, cleaning and validating survey responses, assisting in the management of the survey project, among other project tasks.
- Work with other team members to access and compile data from various third-party administrative data sources (e.g., Small Business Administration’s 7(a) and 504 loan level data, de-identified Transaction Level Reports and Annual Certification Reports from the CDFI Fund, and socioeconomic and demographic indicators from the Census).
- Assist team members to fulfill data requests from OFN staff, members, and external partners and produce data deliverables.
- With guidance and direction, conduct quantitative data analyses, especially to produce descriptive and summary statistics.
- With guidance and direction, code and analyze qualitative data on the CDFI industry, OFN, and related areas.
- Follow and adhere to quality assurance, ethical standards, and established review processes for quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
- Produce draft data visualizations, such as maps, graphs, and infographics, and contribute to the development of web-based dashboards.
- Provide administrative support to help with data collection and analysis projects.
- Assist with the execution of OFN’s research agenda and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or 5-7 years of work experience in lieu of a degree.
- 1-2 years direct experience collecting and analyzing quantitative data preferred.
- 1-2 years direct experience collecting and analyzing qualitative data is preferred.
- Experience with quantitative analysis software (e.g., R, Stata), data visualization and mapping software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS), and online survey software (e.g., Qualtrics) is preferred.
- Experience with accessing, managing, and analyzing third-party administrative data sources is preferred.
- Professional or academic experience in community development finance and with nonprofit financial statements is highly beneficial.
- Digital literacy with Stata, R, Python, or other quantitative analysis software is required.
- Strong organizational skills, patience, and attention to detail required.
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse constituents is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and balance the demands of working on multiple tasks simultaneously independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of and commitment to community development is highly beneficial.
- Limited travel required <10%.
- No extraordinary physical requirements beyond ability to travel.
- Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.

Supervisor: Vice President, Data Collection and Analysis
FLSA Status: Exempt
The salary range for this role is $47,700 to $89,200.
Salaries paid at Opportunity Finance Network will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance. The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the position level.
