Circularity is one way that regeneration comes to life in companies. This is key to ensuring that corporate activities operate within the boundaries of our collective environmental and social resources. This event will feature concrete examples of how Best Buy and International Paper are doing that, and what challenges arise when doing this important work.
Our speakers will also share how their career journeys reflect the impact they want to make in the world. You'll get to hear about the tools needed to make change within a company and those needed to get an impact-focused role.
Tim Dunn is Head of Environmental Sustainability and Compliance at Best Buy, a multinational retailer committed to enriching lives through technology. Tim has been in the environmental field for over fifteen years, with a background in environmental policy and business operations. At Best Buy, Tim has been at the forefront of sustainability, developing and implementing strategies that drive the business forward while protecting the environment, conserving natural resources, and systematically improving Best Buy's environmental performance.
Tim began his career at Best Buy in 2009, and in his tenure his accomplishments have included shaping environmental policies related to state and federal waste and recycling infrastructure, implementing national electronics recycling programs, and developing global audit programs driving toward a safer and more environmentally responsible recycling supply chain.
As Manager, Renewable Solutions, Devin manages sustainability and circular economy strategies at International Paper. Devin is responsible for developing IP's circular strategy and facilitating integration into IP's business plans to create renewable solutions. She is also responsible for helping improve the company's environmental footprint and supporting the creation of innovative, sustainable and recyclable products that meet stakeholder expectations. Devin has an MBA from Pennsylvania State University, Smeal College of Business, where she concentrated in Sustainability & Strategy Leadership and earned a Graduate Certificate in Sustainability Management & Policy.
Paula is a Project Director at the Center for the Circular Economy - Closed Loop Partners' innovation center that leverages research and pre-competitive collaborations to support the transition to the circular economy. Her work focuses on evaluating new technologies and markets to drive investment toward solutions that are both safe and circular and to accelerate their commercialization.
Paula has worked across sectors and along the supply chain in various operations and marketing roles. She began her career in water policy and later launched a startup that upcycled textile waste and employed women coming home from prison. Before joining Closed Loop Partners, she worked in operations and sourcing roles for brands including Nike, Amazon, and Starbucks.
Suzanne Hilker is the Senior Manager of Stakeholder Engagement for Beset Buy, a multinational retailer committed to enriching lives through technology. Suzanne is focused on enhancing Best Buy's reputation through Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) transparency and reporting.
Suzanne began her career at Beset Buy in 2007 and has spent the majority of her time in Corporate REsponsibility helping Best Buy be known as a leader in ESG. Her work has contributed to Best Buy placing in the top five of Baron's 100 Most Sustainable Companies in Merica for three straight years.
Suzanne received her Bachelor's degree in Communications from Marquette University in Milwaukee. She founded the Net Impact Best Buy Corporate Chapter and continues to co-lead the team. She currently resides in the Twin Cities with her two children.
Asheen (he/his) is the co-founder and CEO of Eleven Radius, a membership organization and professional development hub dedicated to co-creating the circular economy with dynamic fashion companies. Prior to founding Eleven Radius, Asheen spent 15 years in corporate sustainability, including as the global head of sustainability for the $4B tech firm Dassault Systèmes, named the #1 Most Sustainable Corporation by Corporate Knights in 2018.
Asheen serves on the boards of Net Impact and the Environmental League of Massachusetts (ELM) Action Fund. He holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Babson College, and teaches Biomimetic Design as an adjunct faculty member at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design. In his down time, Asheen enjoys studying languages, philosophizing over espresso or bourbon, running occasionally, and coaching soccer.
