Sandra Schwarzer is the Open Society Foundations’ global director of human resources and supervises facilities management for the New York office. As human resources director, Schwarzer is responsible for designing and implementing an employee-centric human resources strategy.

Prior to Open Society, Schwarzer was the director of career services at Insead, where she grew and led a 26-person team deployed internationally at the school’s campuses in France and Singapore. She was responsible for developing the strategic design and delivery of career services to MBA and executive MBA participants, as well as to Insead’s alumni community. She also personally advised over 2,000 individuals on their career goals and strategies.

Schwarzer started her career at Société Générale, a French bank and financial services company, where she was in the inspection department, reporting directly to the company’s board of directors.

Schwarzer received a BA (Hons) in French studies from the University of London and a MA in international affairs and business from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po). In 2013, she graduated from Insead with an executive MA in organizational psychology, writing her thesis on overcoming barriers to changing careers. Schwarzer has lived or worked in Belgium, France, Germany, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and speaks English, French, and German fluently.
