  • Relevance is the full experience of an idea and our philosophical approach to human co-existence, self-reliance, sustainability & community development, one that not only changes minds, but also changes behavior, and sustains it. When something or cause is truly relevant, it becomes part of us and we act. We move from passive to involved and indifferent to eager.
  • We are compelled to act, whether that’s working on project implementation or incorporating a sustainability program we’ve fallen in love with. To us relevance is very important and we fully engage the sensory experiences, values systems and community impulses of the individual, not just the rational. That’s why relevance is at the core of our organization’s mission, it’s in our practice to always make our organization and causes more relevant and sustaining relevance through all times focusing on changing minds & behaviors – how people think & what people do.
  • To do that we continue to develop and refine our strategic planning platform and research methodology so we can better understand how to become and stay relevant in the lives of people, communities and organizations.
  • We conduct ongoing primary and secondary research to gain new insights on how ideas can become more relevant with networking fellows, communities, and partners. Our hypothesis is if you’re relevant, you can influence behavior as well as opinion. Changing how people behave as well as how they think will create truly measurable results.

Our chapter represents a coalition of professionals, educators, and social innovators dedicated to driving sustainable change in Africa through education, global partnerships, and youth empowerment.

Our mission is to activate leadership that drives social and economic progress by empowering young Nigerians to become solution-oriented citizens who create positive impact in their communities and the world.

Our Focus Areas

Youth employability and early career development.

Educational advancement and global exposure.

Civic responsibility and ethical leadership.

Sustainable solutions addressing unemployment, migration, and social reform.

The Challenge and Our Intervention

The Youth Crisis in Nigeria
Every year, millions of young Nigerians complete their West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams without a clear career pathway or structured mentorship. This gap between secondary education and higher education or employment has created a vacuum that exposes many young people to negative influences, including involvement in cybercrimes, social vices, and illegal migration.

The Need for Early Global Career Pathways
While the world faces a growing shortage of skilled workers—especially in Europe—Nigeria’s youthful population remains underutilized. Bridging this gap through structured expatriate career pathways will not only empower Nigerian youths but also strengthen international cooperation for sustainable labor and knowledge exchange.

The Program:

YOUNG EXPATRIATE CAREER PATHWAY  (YECP)

Program Overview
The Young Expatriate Career Pathway (YECP) is a strategic initiative by Net Impact Lagos designed to guide and prepare young Nigerian school leavers (aged 16–22) for legitimate, rewarding, and globally recognized career pathways abroad through structured vocational training and language learning programs.

YECP connects qualified Nigerian youths to international apprenticeship and vocational training opportunities, particularly in countries with aging populations and labor shortages—such as Germany, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Netherlands, and Finland.

Key Program Components:

1. Online Mentorship and Learning Hub: Participants are onboarded into a secure digital platform where they receive mentorship, guidance, and access to learning resources.

2. Language and Cultural Training: Preparation for required language certifications (German A1–B1, French DELF, or others) through structured online learning.

3. Career Pathway Mapping: Matching each participant with the right vocational skill based on aptitude, interest, and international demand (e.g., healthcare, engineering, hospitality, construction, IT, agriculture).

4. International Application Support: Guidance on documentation, visa processing, and placement with approved companies or institutions abroad.

5. Parental Orientation and Support System: Transparent communication with parents or guardians to ensure trust, consent, and clarity at every stage of the process.
