Net Impact is excited to share a great opportunity to evaluate the social impact of a community investment and environmental initiative in Los Angeles. We invite applications for this remote, paid role from any student in the Net Impact community and have a strong preference for students with a strong connection to the LA area. We are looking for highly entrepreneurial and motivated full-time or part-time students to contribute their skills to this short-term project. 

 

Project Summary: 

Working directly with the Project Lead at Impact ROI, Steve Rochlin, the Impact Measurement Specialist will support the process of measuring the social impact of a local initiative to evaluate job creation objectives and additional benefits that may have been created such as: 

  • Organizational capacity building 
  • Improved economic security and well-being for beneficiaries
  • Improved economic well-being for neighborhoods
  • Racial equity
  • Others to be determined

 

This is an excellent remote/virtual opportunity for students interested in impact measurement to gain exposure to how these types of projects work. You will also get to work with a leader in the field and engage with a range of community stakeholders.

Estimated Start Date: Monday, May 23 (Subject to change based on project timeline) 

 

Summary of Deliverables and Deadlines

 

  • Review documentation and produce a written summary report about its approach and achievements. 
    • Due approximately 1.5 weeks after starting work
  • Draft a literature review report documenting approaches to measure similar initiatives 
    • Due approximately 3 weeks after starting work
  • Participate in stakeholder interviews and take detailed notes 
    • Due approximately 5 weeks after starting work
  • Develop system to code qualitative interview responses and other qualitative data from the Initiative and produce an analysis of key findings 
    • Due approximately 8 weeks after starting work
  • Collect quantitative data and conduct basic statistical analysis of results
    • Due approximately 10-12 weeks after starting work

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Must be a full-time or part-time student
  • Resourceful, organized, conscientious
  • Deadline oriented, with strong follow through and commitment to projects
  • Good communication skills
  • Familiarity with social impact initiatives/measurement 
  • A resident of the greater Los Angeles area, or someone who has a strong connection to the area, is a bonus

 

Payment

$2,000 stipend, paid in 2 parts upon completion of key deliverables. We estimate that this will be an average of 8 hours a week with significant variation over the 3-month project timeline. (8 hours a week is average, so some weeks may be more or less depending on the week.)
