Building a Regenerative Economy Together: Inspiring Stories and Community Connection will spotlight BIPOC social entrepreneurs while creating an inclusive dialogue for all in the Net Impact community to learn from each other's perspectives and experiences. You'll hear new voices and meet new people! The event will create an inclusive space to highlight BIPOC leaders in our community and have everyone connect around common issues. The Net Impact community is filled with leaders like you! And this event will allow you to connect with other attendees, build relationships, and take action together.
The Regenerative Economy is co-created by people like you - aspiring and successful social change leaders and entrepreneurs from all walks of life who care deeply about the state of our world and want to make it better for generations to come. What are your stories? What is your unique perspective on these global issues that are often intellectualized and made abstract?
The event will be highly interactive. Attendees will connect with the speakers and each other - come ready to engage. Since this event is more conducive to the in-person experience, we will not be offering a recording of the event. Please join us live!
Our Featured Social Entrepreneurs:
Danielle is a female futurist and serial entrepreneur who works on projects at the intersection of women, tech, and social impact. Through her company GreyFire, she advises female founders in the US and emerging markets in Africa on scaling their businesses and raising capital. Danielle is an advisor to social impact startups and a mentor to Columbia University's business accelerator. She has lectured at Yale School of Management and Barnard College's Athena Program and Princeton University. Danielle is an Ariane de Rothschild Fellow, awarded to 20 Global Social Impact Entrepreneurs each year. She has been featured on CNBC and in Forbes and is a frequent speaker at the United Nations, TEDx, Google, Spotify, General Assembly, and other events. Danielle is the author of The Silent Rise of the Female-Driven Economy, a position paper on women and the future of business and innovation.
Dr. Diana Yousef, Ph.D., MBA, MA is Founder and CEO of change: WATER Labs, a mission-driven cleantech venture to extend safe water and sanitation access to poor and vulnerable communities around the world. Diana's career spans the areas of academic life sciences research, international economic development, strategy consulting, finance, and venture capital/private equity investing. She co-founded the Life Sciences Investment Group of the International Finance Corporation of the World Bank, investing in growth-stage biotech and agritech companies in India, China and other emerging markets. She also co-founded the United Nations Inclusive Markets incubator, to help companies develop innovative products and services for the base-of-the-pyramid. Her work and the work of change:WATER Labs have been recognized globally. She was invited to speak at the 2019 UN Climate Summit on Private Sector Innovations to address the SDGs. In 2018, her venture was announced as one of a select group of global awardees of the inaugural Humanitarian Grand Challenges Awards (funded by USAID, DFID, and the Dutch Foreign Ministry). The work of Diana and her team have been covered in such publications as Forbes, Fast Company, BOSS Magazine (on the cover of April 2018 issue), Bloomberg, the Discovery Channel, The Daily Beast and the Boston Globe.
Respect Rungano Musiyiwa is multi-award winning social leader passionate about smallholder farmers and frontline communities' development. He is a leader of a nonprofit, CASL Trust, as well as a social business and startup Precision Farming Africa, aimed at building the resilience of smallholder farmers in Zimbabwe and Africa. He is an Agronomic Engineer from Earth University and an MSc. Global Food Security and Nutrition student at the University of Edinburgh. He is a Net Impact Climate Fellow and Cornell University Climate Fellow.
At the age of 19, Daniela founded Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA) as a college-room idea at Georgetown University. Six years later, she has built SOA into a global organization that is cultivating and accelerating innovative solutions to protect and sustain the health of the ocean. With phenomenal speed, SOA has created the world's largest network of young ocean leaders - by establishing a presence in over 165 countries and has successfully launched the world's first Ocean Solutions Accelerator to develop technological solutions that can address the greatest threats facing our planet. Daniela is also the Managing Partner of Seabird Ventures - a female-led fund that invests in startups that are driving transformative improvements to the global ocean health, all while generating investment returns.
